FAQs
Who are Micro Homes WA?
We are a family business based in Perth with a forty-year+ history of building. We are passionate about filling the void in affordable housing, from first home buyers to retirees.
How much does a Micro Home cost?
Prices vary depending on size, design, and custom features. Our base models are competitively priced, and we offer a range of upgrades to suit different needs and budgets. Contact us for a personalised quote.
Can I customise my Micro Home?
Absolutely! We offer flexible design options—from layout changes and finishes to off-grid systems and smart storage solutions. Your micro home should reflect your lifestyle.
How long does it take to build?
Typical build times range from 8 to 12 weeks, depending on complexity and customisation. We’ll keep you updated at every stage of the process.
Does our Micro Home comply with the Building Act 2011?
Yes, as registered builders your Micro Home is built to Australian standards. Feel secure in the knowledge that your Micro Home is backed by a seven-year structural warranty protected by Consumer and Competition Act 2010 laws.
Is our Micro Home cyclone rated?
Yes! Having built Micro Homes for property owners above the 26th parallel, where approximately the northern half of Western Australia can be prone to cyclones, starting around Denham/Shark Bay, our Engineers have ensured that your Micro Home complies, with this classification reflected in the certified drawings.
Can I get finance to purchase a Micro Home?
Absolutely!
The Commonwealth Bank now offer finance for the purchase of a Micro Home. If you would prefer, our Broker can guide you through the process. Learn more here.
Do we need Council Approval for our Micro Home?
Yes you do.
We kick this off by providing you with a ‘Permit Pack’ to begin the process and guide you along the way.
The State Government made changes in April 2024 encouraging more affordable houses to be built, therefore making positive changes to the ancillary dwelling provisions to provide greater housing diversity, affordable housing options and more support for ageing. This means you can have a compliant dwelling no larger than 70m² on your property for a relative, friend or to rent out.
For rural properties, local Shires may have different processes – make sure you check with them first!
